I was initially attracted to engineering due to the amount of different career pathways it offers.

I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to specialise in and engineering allowed me to explore lots of different areas (e.g. hands on skills on the shop floor, design work in the office and project management).

The chance to work on interesting national and international projects really stood out to me. It’s rewarding to be part of something meaningful. Rivencore has also been supportive throughout my apprenticeship and encourages further development beyond the apprenticeship.

No two days are the same which keeps things interesting. A typical day includes checking emails, working on new CAD models / drawings, updating legacy designs, supporting the shop floor, and attending team or project meetings.

Not too sure how much I’m allowed to say here… but the one I’m currently working on! It’s been great getting involved in designing and drawing new brackets and equipment and seeing it all come together.

The variety. Every day is different and there’s always something new to work on or learn.

Go for it! But keep an open mind. Engineering can take you in so many different directions.
