ENTRY POINT: Finance Apprentice – Level 2 AAT

CURRENT LEVEL: Finance Apprentice – Level 4 AAT

Business studies was always something I was interested in at GCSE and A-Level. Finance seemed like an appropriate path and insight into how a business operates. Since then, developing a career in Finance is my main goal.

Rivencore seemed like a company built on integrity and persistence, the work environment and culture really appealed to me.

Working in a hands-on accounting / finance role in industry involves a variety of responsibilities. There’s quite a lot of structure to my day, but this can include reviewing e-mail requests and priorities, advanced book-keeping and ledger tasks as well as some reporting and analysis, preparing accruals and reviewing budgets. At Level 4 its about understanding why the numbers matter rather than processing them as I did in my early career. There are a lot of spreadsheets, but each one has its own role and is vital to the work we do in the Finance team.

Most recently due to some exciting changes and opportunities for Rivencore I have been involved in producing the profit and loss accounts for the new business units within the company. This has helped me to develop a better understanding of business operations and the clear presentation and reporting of P&L accounts. It has also supported my understanding of the subject knowledge and therefore progression within my studies at L4.

The team and the business itself. My team provide support to all departments at all levels in the day to day finances and planning for future growth. Working with them enables me to understand more and develop my skills in Finance to progress my career. The business is growing and we provide a variety of exciting products and services that the defence sector relies upon.

You won’t always get it right first time, but it is still worth trying. There are a lot of pathways to explore and you will find what works for you.

Rivencore: For Work. For Life.
